Maple is of the Acer genus of what are hich there many varieties, in terms of flooring the most common used is Hard Maple (Acer saccharum ) also known as Canadian Hard Maple and Sugar Maple. The grading of maple is a key factor as this will determine how the floor will look. Prime grade (or 1st grade in USA) provides a clean light look to your floor with little variation in colour ranging from white to creams with none to little mineral streaks. Alternatively Birds Eye Maple is highly sought after with quite unusual grain patterns. Character grades will include light brown mineral streaks that give a smokey look to the timber.
