Cork is remarkably resistant to wear. It is made of millions of cork cells, no matter how much it is walked on or how long furniture stands on it, cork always regains its shape and retains its elasticity. Cork flooring is a good thermal and sound insulator making it comfortable and quiet to walk on. It is also a natural fire retardant: it neither spreads flames nor releases toxic gases during combustion.As cork does not absorb dust, it helps protect against allergies and does not pose a risk to asthma sufferers.
