Reddish immediately after installation, Cherry darkens over time to a beautiful red-brown. Typical characteristics for cherry are pitch streaks, which are clearly visible as knotlike dark spots. Pear is similar in appearance but with burls in the grain. Both of these timbers are highly prized and often used in cabinet making. They have a very fine grain so polishes very well. These products are for sale as engineered floors and available in oiled and lacquered finishes. Pear flooring is not suitable with underfloor heating. |
